Part 1:  Lost Dog Wash Trail

April 18, 2012

There's the Lost Dog Wash Trailhead in Scottsdale Arizona

The trail has restroom facilities.

Here is a map of all the McDowell Mountain trails.  These are some of the highest peaks in Phoenix that reach over 4000 ft.

Plenty of trail signs and hiking options.

Lots of cactus, bunny rabbits, snakes, and coyotes here.

Here is how the trail starts out.  Very wide and easy hiking.

The trail has plenty of nice saguaro cacti ready to give you a nice hug with their arms.

Plenty of cacti are bloom this time of year in April.

The air is filled with the buzzing sound of bees because all of the flowers blooming in the desert.

There is the view torwards the Scottsdale Mayo Clini Campus

More trail signs and cactus flowers.

Those cholla cactus plants sure are beautiful "light catchers".  But watch out for their little babies that they drop off to blow around in the wind.

The trail is fairly flat and easy walking for several miles until you get to the base of the McDowell Mountains in the distance.

The mountain in the distance with the antennas is Thompson Peak

There is a telephoto view of Thompson peak from the Lost Dog Wash Trail.
