Pipes and Pressure Vessels
Thick-walled cylindrical pipes and pressure vessels must be designed so that the induced stresses in the materials are within acceptable limits under the required pressure, thermal, and axial stress loads.  Figure 1 shows a typical thick pipe under pressure loading combined with a nonlinear thermal gradient load.  Concyl can be very useful in determining required pipe thicknesses, induced stresses, and induced deformations for such problems.
